A working research notebook
for a changing world.
I’m Daniel Mercer. I have seven years of experience in finance, including work at major firms and in consulting, and hold a master’s degree in economics. I maintain Visionary Talks as a research tool for a new and exciting business world.
I love investigating private and public companies: who owns them, how they make money, and what their decisions mean for people’s careers. I’m particularly interested in AI and the forces shaping the future of business.
I built this space to turn curiosity into evidence. I follow company records, financial disclosures and the people behind businesses to understand what is changing—and why it matters.
A pen name.
A clear point of contact.
I still work in the finance industry. To protect my professional privacy, I write under the pen name Daniel Mercer rather than disclose my real name.
I share my background, explain my research methods and provide a direct contact for questions and corrections.
Every useful finding
starts with a better question.
I want this publication to be useful enough to return to: clear answers, distinctive evidence and financial numbers you can understand.
Start with the records.
I conduct independent research into company announcements, filings, public datasets and archival records. I trace the original document and check the date and the claim it actually supports.
Show how the numbers work.
I distinguish company valuations, revenue, compensation and personal wealth. I identify third-party estimates and show the inputs and assumptions behind my own calculations.
Keep the unknowns visible.
I explain the limits of the available evidence, link sources naturally within the reporting, and revisit conclusions when the underlying records change.
My research uses public records. A source check establishes what a document reports; it does not independently audit a private company or disclose someone’s complete personal balance sheet.
The business.
The people. The money.
Corrections, questions & research leads
If you spot an error, send me the article link, the claim in question and any supporting evidence. I review correction requests against the source records and update the article when a correction is warranted.
I also welcome company records, thoughtful challenges and suggestions for what I should investigate next.
