Privacy notice
Visionary Talks operates this publication in the United States and is responsible for the personal information described here. Contact daniel@visionarytalks.com for privacy questions or requests. Daniel Mercer is an editorial pen name, not a separate registered company.
Reading the website
You do not need a reader account to read public articles. Our hosting and infrastructure providers may process request information such as network address, browser information and requested URLs to deliver the website and protect it from abuse. Restricted CMS accounts are for publication staff, not a public membership service.
Newsletter registration
When you opt in, we store your email address, the time and version of your consent, registration status and the page where you registered in our private CMS database. We use this information to prepare and operate the newsletter. Registration requests are not sent to an AI service. Email delivery has not started, and registering is not proof that an address has been verified.
We retain registrations while preparing and operating the newsletter, unless you request deletion or the programme closes. You can withdraw consent or request removal by emailing from the registered address. Verification and an unsubscribe process must be connected before newsletter delivery begins. A separate newsletter privacy notice describes the registration process.
Website analytics and your choices
When enabled on the live website, Google Analytics helps us understand readership. We automatically send limited cookieless measurement signals from all regions, unless you opt out. Without an analytics-cookie choice, we configure Google Analytics with analytics storage denied; Google Analytics cookies are not read or written by this integration. These signals still involve data processing by Google and are not a promise of anonymity. Cookie-based analytics is enabled only after you allow analytics or when you have an existing saved permission. Analytics is disabled on Preview deployments and CMS pages.
You can use Opt out of analytics on the website at any time. An existing Decline choice is preserved. We also disable analytics when we receive Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signals. Opting out stops future website analytics events, clears accessible first-party Google Analytics cookies and saves your preference in this browser. It does not erase information already received by Google. Clearing browser storage, changing browsers or devices can remove your saved preference.
Google Analytics can process page addresses, browser and device information, approximate location and cookie-based identifiers. We omit URL query strings from the page-view addresses we send and disable Google signals and advertising personalization in our website integration. Google cookies and data retention depend on the configured service. We do not link analytics identifiers to newsletter subscribers. Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services: Google’s explanation of partner-site data.
Email and abuse prevention
If you email us, your address and message are used to handle the enquiry. Please avoid unnecessary sensitive information. We retain correspondence for as long as it is needed to handle the matter and keep a reasonable record of the outcome.
Newsletter abuse controls use short-lived request limits and keyed hashes of network addresses rather than storing raw addresses in the newsletter list. Hosting providers may retain separate security logs.
Providers and transfers
Vercel provides website hosting and media infrastructure, and Neon provides the CMS database infrastructure. Google processes website analytics according to the settings and your choices described above. Email correspondence is handled through our email service. These providers may process information in the United States or other countries under their applicable terms and safeguards.
We do not sell the newsletter list or submit newsletter registrations to AI models. Authorized publication staff can access registrations in the CMS. Service providers process information to provide their services, and information may also be disclosed when legally required or necessary to protect the website and its users.
Your choices and requests
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information, withdraw consent or raise a complaint with a regulator. Contact daniel@visionarytalks.com and explain your request. We may need proportionate information to verify that a request relates to your data, and legal exceptions may affect what we can remove.
This publication and its newsletter are intended for a general adult audience. We do not knowingly collect newsletter registrations from children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child’s information was submitted so we can investigate and remove it where appropriate.
Changes to this notice
We will update this page when our data handling changes. A new email delivery provider, advertising service or materially different use of personal information requires an updated notice and any consent required by applicable law.
