Vibe coding by market share is one of the most searched questions in AI software right now, but it is also one of the easiest questions to answer badly.

The problem is simple. There is no audited global market-share table for GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, OpenAI Codex, Lovable, Replit, Base44, Bolt.new, v0, Gemini Code Assist, Amazon Q Developer, Devin, Windsurf, and the rest of the AI coding stack.

So I built my own estimate.

I did not treat “vibe coding market share” as one clean pie chart. That would be misleading. I separated the market into four layers: enterprise code assistants, AI-native coding environments, agentic coding tools, and prompt-to-app builders. Then I calculated share using revenue, workplace adoption, user reach, and reported market traction.

My conclusion is that vibe coding has no single winner. GitHub Copilot still leads enterprise deployment. Claude Code appears to lead agentic coding revenue. Cursor leads the AI-native IDE category. Lovable and Replit lead the prompt-to-app market. Base44 is now much more important than older estimates suggested because Wix reported that Base44 reached about $150 million in ARR as of May 2026.

Key Takeaways

  • I estimate the global AI code tools market is roughly $10 billion in 2026, based on Grand View Research’s 2023 market size and 27.1% CAGR forecast.
  • I estimate the US AI code tools market is roughly $3.1 billion in 2026, using North America’s reported 38%+ global share and an 82% US share assumption.
  • GitHub Copilot still has the strongest enterprise adoption signal, with 20 million all-time users reported in 2025 and usage across 90% of the Fortune 100.
  • Claude Code is the most important agentic coding revenue story, with Anthropic reporting more than $2.5 billion in run-rate revenue for Claude Code in 2026.
  • Cursor is the clearest AI-native IDE winner, with more than $1 billion in annualized revenue reported around its $29.3 billion Series D valuation.
  • Lovable remains the prompt-to-app revenue leader I can verify, with $400 million ARR confirmed in early 2026.
  • Replit is the prompt-to-app user reach leader, with more than 50 million users and a stated goal of reaching $1 billion in run-rate revenue by the end of 2026.
  • Base44 is now a serious prompt-to-app player, not a minor footnote. Wix said Base44 reached $100 million ARR in March 2026 and approximately $150 million ARR as of May 2026.
  • My revised estimate gives Base44 roughly 1.5% of the total AI coding tools market and roughly 10% to 15% of the prompt-to-app revenue market.

What I Mean by Vibe Coding

I define vibe coding as software creation through natural-language prompting, AI-assisted iteration, and agentic code generation.

In plain English, the user describes what they want, the AI writes or modifies code, and the user keeps steering the system until the software works.

That sounds simple, but the market is not simple. A senior engineer using Claude Code inside a terminal is not the same customer as a non-technical founder building an app in Lovable or Base44. A Fortune 100 company rolling out GitHub Copilot is not buying the same workflow as a designer using v0 to generate a frontend.

That is why I split the market before calculating share.

SegmentProductsWhat Market Share Means Here
Enterprise code assistantsGitHub Copilot, Gemini Code Assist, Amazon Q Developer, JetBrains AI, TabninePaid seats, workplace adoption, enterprise approval, IDE distribution
AI-native coding environmentsCursor, Windsurf, Replit, Zed AI featuresDaily coding workflow, ARR, developer mindshare, team adoption
Agentic coding toolsClaude Code, OpenAI Codex, Devin, Copilot coding agentDelegated engineering work, repo-level edits, command execution, PR automation
Prompt-to-app buildersLovable, Replit Agent, Base44, Bolt.new, v0Apps created, non-technical users, paying creators, ARR, traffic share

The category boundaries overlap. Replit is both a cloud IDE and a prompt-to-app builder. GitHub Copilot is both an assistant and an agent platform. OpenAI Codex can operate inside ChatGPT, Slack, CLI, and developer workflows. But the segmentation is still necessary because the market-share answer changes by layer.

The Primary Question I Am Answering

The primary question is: what is vibe coding by market share in 2026?

The secondary questions are:

  1. Which vibe coding tools have the most revenue?
  2. Which tools have the most workplace adoption?
  3. Which products are strongest in the US?
  4. How should Base44 be counted after Wix reported $100 million and then $150 million of ARR?
  5. How did I calculate these estimates when the companies do not disclose full numbers?

The Market Size I Used

Grand View Research estimated the global AI code tools market at $4.86 billion in 2023 and projected it to reach $26.03 billion by 2030, growing at a 27.1% CAGR. It also reported that North America held more than 38% of global revenue in 2023. I use that as the base for my market model because it provides both market size and regional share data. (Grand View Research)

My Global Market Size Calculation

I use the published 2023 market size and apply the 27.1% CAGR.

YearFormulaEstimated Global AI Code Tools Market
2023Published base year$4.86 billion
2024$4.86B × 1.271$6.18 billion
2025$6.18B × 1.271$7.85 billion
2026$7.85B × 1.271$9.98 billion
2030Published forecast$26.03 billion

My working estimate is that the AI code tools market is around $10 billion globally in 2026.

My US Market Size Calculation

The US number requires an estimate because most market reports give North America, not the United States alone.

My formula:

2026 US AI code tools market = global market × North America share × US share of North America

My base case:

$9.98B × 38% × 82% = $3.11B

MetricAssumptionResult
Global AI code tools market, 2026$9.98B$9.98B
North America share38%$3.79B
US share of North America82%$3.11B
Estimated US AI code tools market, 2026$3.1B

I use $3.0 billion to $3.3 billion as my US estimate range.

How I Calculated Estimated Market Share

Because the companies do not all disclose the same metrics, I used three separate models.

Model 1: Revenue Share

This is the cleanest model when ARR or annualized revenue is known.

Revenue share = product ARR ÷ comparable product revenue pool

Example:

If Base44 has $150 million ARR and the prompt-to-app peer group has $1.125 billion of modeled ARR, Base44’s prompt-to-app revenue share is:

$150M ÷ $1.125B = 13.3%

Model 2: Adoption Share

This is useful when survey data exists but revenue does not.

Adoption share = product usage percentage ÷ sum of usage percentages across peer tools

This must be normalized because surveys are usually multi-select. A developer can use ChatGPT, Copilot, Cursor, and Claude Code in the same week.

Model 3: Composite Prompt-to-App Share

Prompt-to-app tools are especially difficult because some have huge user counts, some have high revenue, and some have strong developer-survey visibility.

For this segment, I use:

Composite share = 70% revenue share + 10% user share + 20% adoption or traffic share

Why those weights?

  • Revenue gets 70% because paid usage is the strongest proof of market value.
  • User reach gets 10% because cumulative users can be inflated by free signups.
  • Adoption or traffic gets 20% because it captures active category demand and market attention.

I do not claim this is perfect. I claim it is more honest than pretending these private companies publish clean market share.

Vibe Coding by Market Share: Revenue-Weighted Global Estimate

This table is my best revenue-weighted view of the visible market. It is not perfect because Microsoft, Google, Amazon, and OpenAI bundle some coding revenue into larger products.

I use ranges where numbers are estimated.

RankProductCategoryRevenue Used in ModelEstimated Share of Visible AI Coding RevenueConfidence
1Claude CodeAgentic coding$2.5B+30% to 38%High
2CursorAI-native IDE$1.0B to $2.0B14% to 22%Medium

12Devin / Cognition / WindsurfAgentic coding and AI IDE$50M to $200M modeled1% to 3%Low

My key interpretation: Base44 is still small in the total AI coding tools market, but it is no longer small inside prompt-to-app building.

Using Wix’s latest reported ARR, Base44’s total market share is roughly:

$150M ÷ $9.98B = 1.5%

That is already meaningful for a product Wix acquired in June 2025 for about $80 million upfront plus earnouts.

Vibe Coding by Market Share: Workplace Adoption Estimate

Revenue is not the only lens. Workplace adoption tells a different story.

Stack Overflow’s 2025 Developer Survey found that 84% of respondents were using or planning to use AI tools in their development process, and 51% of professional developers used AI tools daily. (Stack Overflow)

JetBrains’ January 2026 AI Pulse survey found that 90% of professional developers regularly used at least one AI tool at work. It also found GitHub Copilot at 29% workplace adoption, ChatGPT for coding tasks at 28%, Cursor at 18%, and Claude Code at 18%. Claude Code reached 24% adoption in the US and Canada. (JetBrains)

ProductWorkplace Adoption SignalNormalized Share of Listed Workplace ToolsMy Interpretation
GitHub Copilot29%28.4%Still the workplace deployment leader
ChatGPT for coding tasks28%27.5%Biggest general AI coding helper at work
Cursor18%17.6%AI-native IDE leader by developer workflow
Claude Code18%17.6%Fastest-rising agentic coding tool
Google Antigravity6%5.9%Early but meaningful Google agentic IDE signal
OpenAI Codex3%2.9%Survey undercounts Codex because adoption accelerated later

This is why I separate market share by type. GitHub Copilot leads workplace adoption. Claude Code appears to lead agentic revenue. Cursor leads the AI-native IDE business. Those can all be true at the same time.

Prompt-to-App Market Share: The Segment Where Base44 Matters Most

Base44 belongs in the prompt-to-app market, not in the same bucket as GitHub Copilot.

This market includes products that let users build software from natural language: Lovable, Replit Agent, Base44, Bolt.new, v0, and similar tools.

Prompt-to-App Revenue Pool

For this revenue model, I use the freshest number I can defend for each product.

ProductRevenue UsedWhy I Use This Number
Lovable$400MConfirmed ARR in early 2026
Replit$400MModeled midpoint, based on $150M in Sept. 2025 and stated goal of $1B run-rate by end of 2026
Base44$150MWix reported approximately $150M ARR as of May 2026
v0$100MEstimate, Vercel does not break out v0 revenue
Bolt.new$75MEstimate above reported $40M ARR because the public figure is older
Total$1.125BModeled comparable pool

Revenue-Only Prompt-to-App Share

ProductARR or Modeled Run-RateRevenue Share
Lovable$400M35.6%
Replit$400M35.6%
Base44$150M13.3%
v0$100M8.9%
Bolt.new$75M6.7%
Total$1.125B100%

This is the most important Base44 update.

When I used the older $40 million to $50 million Base44 ARR trajectory, Base44 looked like a 4% to 6% prompt-to-app revenue-share player. With Wix reporting approximately $150 million ARR as of May 2026, Base44 moves closer to 13% revenue share in my prompt-to-app peer group.

That makes it a top-three or top-four prompt-to-app business by revenue, depending on how aggressively Replit and v0 are modeled.

Base44: What Wix Actually Reported

The Base44 story changed quickly.

In June 2025, Wix acquired Base44 for approximately $80 million upfront plus additional earnout payments through 2029. Wix said Base44 would continue as a distinct product and business. (Wix)

In November 2025, Wix said Base44 had over 2 million users served, more than 1,000 new paying subscribers joining every day, and was on track to reach at least $50 million ARR by year-end. Wix also said Base44’s market share had grown from low-single digits to more than 10% since June. (Wix)

In March 2026, Wix reported in its Q4 2025 release filed with the SEC that Base44 had recently reached $100 million ARR. (SEC filing)

In May 2026, Wix reported Q1 2026 results and said Base44 had achieved approximately $150 million ARR as momentum continued to ramp. (Wix)

That is a massive revision to the Base44 thesis.

DateBase44 MetricSource
June 2025Wix acquired Base44 for about $80M upfront plus earnoutsWix acquisition announcement
November 2025Over 2M users served and more than 1,000 new paying subscribers per dayWix Q3 2025 results

My view: Base44 is not close to GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or Cursor in total AI coding market share. But inside prompt-to-app building, it is now a credible top-tier revenue player.

How Base44 Changes the Prompt-to-App Market Share Table

Here is the before and after.

Older Base44 Model

ProductRevenue UsedRevenue Share
Lovable$400M38.1%
Replit$400M38.1%
v0$100M9.5%
Bolt.new$75M7.1%
Base44$75M7.1%

Updated Base44 Model Using Wix’s $150M ARR Figure

ProductRevenue UsedRevenue Share
Lovable$400M35.6%
Replit$400M35.6%
Base44$150M13.3%
v0$100M8.9%
Bolt.new$75M6.7%
Total$1.125B100%

The new Wix figure almost doubles Base44’s modeled share versus a conservative $75 million estimate.

My Composite Prompt-to-App Market Share Estimate

Revenue is the strongest signal, but it is not the only signal.

Replit has far more total users. Lovable has very high revenue. Base44 has fast ARR growth and Wix distribution. v0 has strong developer mindshare. Bolt.new has strong browser-based builder traction.

So I use my composite formula:

Composite share = 70% revenue share + 10% user share + 20% adoption or traffic share

For adoption or traffic, I use three kinds of evidence:

  • Stack Overflow mentions where available.
  • Wix’s statement that Base44 had grown from low-single digits to more than 10% market share since June.
  • Public user and revenue traction where survey data is missing.
ProductRevenue ShareUser Reach ShareAdoption or Traffic ShareComposite Estimated Share
Lovable35.6%12% to 20%18% to 24%30% to 36%
Replit35.6%65% to 75%15% to 20%34% to 40%
Base4413.3%2% to 4%8% to 12%11% to 14%
v08.9%4% to 6%25% to 32%12% to 14%
Bolt.new6.7%6% to 8%18% to 24%9% to 11%

This model produces a different answer than revenue-only share.

By revenue, Base44 is around 13% of my prompt-to-app peer group.

By composite share, Base44 is around 11% to 14%.

By total AI coding tools market, Base44 is around 1% to 2%.

That is the right way to state it.

My US Vibe Coding Market Share Estimate

The US market is harder because companies rarely disclose US-only ARR or US-only active users.

I estimate the US AI code tools market at $3.0 billion to $3.3 billion in 2026.

The US market likely over-indexes toward GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, OpenAI Codex, Replit, v0, and Base44 because the US has the highest concentration of enterprise software buyers, venture-backed startups, AI-native product teams, and cloud-platform adoption.

ProductEstimated US ShareWhy I Assign This Range
GitHub Copilot22% to 30%Enterprise deployment, GitHub distribution, VS Code ecosystem, Fortune 100 usage
Claude Code20% to 28%24% US and Canada adoption in JetBrains data, strong advanced-developer usage
Cursor14% to 20%Strong US startup and AI-native IDE adoption, major ARR traction
OpenAI Codex10% to 18%OpenAI distribution through ChatGPT, Slack, CLI, SDK, and enterprise plans
Gemini Code Assist / Antigravity5% to 9%Google Cloud, Android, and enterprise ecosystem distribution
Amazon Q Developer4% to 8%Stronger inside AWS-heavy enterprise accounts
Replit3% to 7%Strong US creator, education, startup, and enterprise footprint
Lovable2% to 5%Strong global app-builder momentum, likely growing US share
Base441% to 3%Wix ownership and $150M ARR make it more important than older user-share estimates
v02% to 4%Vercel distribution and frontend-heavy US usage
Bolt.new1% to 2%Strong prototype usage, smaller confirmed revenue base
Devin / Windsurf / Cognition1% to 4%Enterprise autonomous-agent share, still opaque

My US conclusion: GitHub Copilot still leads by enterprise footprint, but Claude Code and Cursor are the two products most capable of changing where high-value developer workflows go. Base44’s US share is probably still small, but Wix gives it distribution and capital that independent app-builder startups do not have.

Global Product-by-Product Market Share Notes

GitHub Copilot

GitHub Copilot remains the default enterprise AI coding assistant.

The strongest public numbers are 20 million all-time users and usage across 90% of the Fortune 100. I do not treat 20 million all-time users as active paid users. That would be an analytical mistake. But I do treat it as evidence of unmatched distribution.

My estimate: 10% to 17% of visible AI coding revenue and 22% to 30% of US enterprise-oriented deployment share.

Claude Code

Claude Code is the clearest agentic coding revenue leader I found.

Anthropic reported that Claude Code’s run-rate revenue had grown to more than $2.5 billion in 2026 and that weekly active users had doubled since January 1. That is an extraordinary signal for a product that became generally available in 2025.

My estimate: 30% to 38% of visible AI coding revenue and 20% to 28% US share among high-value professional AI coding workflows.

Cursor

Cursor is the AI-native IDE leader.

The company raised $2.3 billion at a $29.3 billion post-money valuation in November 2025. Cursor’s core advantage is workflow design: AI lives inside the coding environment rather than as a separate chat tab.

My estimate: 14% to 22% of visible AI coding revenue, depending on whether I use $1 billion or higher reported annualized revenue estimates.

OpenAI Codex

OpenAI Codex is undercounted in some surveys because the product ramped after earlier survey windows.

OpenAI made Codex generally available in October 2025 and added Slack, SDK, and admin tools. WIRED reported Codex was generating just over $1 billion in annualized revenue by the end of January 2026.

My estimate: 12% to 17% of visible AI coding revenue and 10% to 18% US share.

Lovable

Lovable is the prompt-to-app revenue leader I can verify with a clean public number.

TechCrunch reported that Lovable crossed $400 million ARR in February 2026. That puts Lovable in the rare category of app-builder startups with serious revenue, not just buzz.

My estimate: 30% to 36% composite prompt-to-app share.

Replit

Replit is the prompt-to-app user-reach leader.

Reuters reported that Replit reached $150 million annualized revenue in September 2025. Replit later said it had users from 85% of the Fortune 500 and was on track to hit $1 billion in run-rate revenue by the end of 2026.

My estimate: 34% to 40% composite prompt-to-app share, driven by user reach and platform breadth.

Base44

Base44 is the most important revision in this article.

The old version of this analysis treated Base44 as a $40 million to $50 million ARR app-builder. That is outdated. Wix later reported $100 million ARR in March 2026 and approximately $150 million ARR as of May 2026.

My estimate: 1% to 2% total AI coding tools share, but 11% to 14% prompt-to-app composite share.

v0

v0 is strongest in UI generation and frontend prototyping. It has developer mindshare because the output is visual and fast to evaluate.

My estimate: 12% to 14% composite prompt-to-app share.

Bolt.new

Bolt.new is a fast browser-based app builder. Its public revenue data is older than Lovable, Base44, and Replit’s freshest numbers, so I model it conservatively.

My estimate: 9% to 11% composite prompt-to-app share.

What Most Market-Share Takes Get Wrong

The biggest mistake is mixing all AI coding products together without explaining the denominator.

If the denominator is enterprise seats, GitHub Copilot looks strongest.

If the denominator is agentic coding revenue, Claude Code looks strongest.

If the denominator is AI-native IDE revenue, Cursor looks strongest.

If the denominator is prompt-to-app revenue, Lovable and Replit look strongest.

If the denominator is prompt-to-app growth revision, Base44 is one of the most important stories.

That is why I would never publish a single “vibe coding market share” chart without explaining how it was calculated.

What This Means Going Forward

I think the vibe coding market is moving through three phases.

First came autocomplete. GitHub Copilot dominated that phase.

Second came AI-native environments. Cursor and Windsurf pushed that phase forward.

Third came agentic coding and prompt-to-app building. Claude Code, Codex, Lovable, Replit, Base44, v0, and Bolt.new now define that phase.

The most important uncertainty is not demand. Demand is obvious. The uncertainty is whether these tools can produce software that teams can trust, secure, maintain, and integrate.

The second uncertainty is margin. Revenue growth is impressive, but AI coding tools can have high inference costs. Base44’s trajectory matters because Wix is publicly discussing its ARR growth and long-term margin expectations. If Base44 can scale with margins similar to Wix’s core business over time, it would be stronger than a typical hype-cycle app builder.

The third uncertainty is defensibility. The visible interface of vibe coding is easy to copy. The moat is not the prompt box. The moat is infrastructure, context, deployment, integrations, governance, distribution, and trust.

Bottom Line

My best estimate is that the AI code tools market is approaching $10 billion globally in 2026, with the US representing roughly $3.1 billion.

By enterprise adoption, GitHub Copilot still leads.

By agentic coding revenue, Claude Code appears to lead.

By AI-native IDE revenue, Cursor leads.

By prompt-to-app revenue, Lovable and Replit are the largest players I can model.

By upward revision, Base44 is the standout. Wix’s reporting changes the estimate materially. Base44 should now be modeled at approximately $150 million ARR, about 1% to 2% of the total AI coding tools market, and roughly 11% to 14% of the prompt-to-app market depending on whether the model weights revenue, users, or traffic.

That is the honest market-share answer. Vibe coding is not one market. It is a stack. The winners depend on which layer you are measuring.
