Key takeaways

  • February 2024: more than $200M raised at a $2.2B valuation.
  • September 2024: more than $260M raised at $4.6B.
  • June 2025: a $150M Wellington-led round priced Glean at $7.2B.
  • May 2026: Glean announced $300M ARR; that is an operating metric, not a new priced round.

What changed in 2026

The major operating update is Glean’s May 28 announcement of $300M ARR. It is a company-reported recurring-revenue measure, not audited annual recognized revenue. The article dates it separately from the last verified financing.

That separation changes how to read a valuation-to-revenue comparison. A June 2025 transaction and a May 2026 run rate do not create a contemporaneous valuation multiple. I will not label a calculation using those mismatched dates as the price an investor paid for the current business.

Who owns Glean?

The Series F announcement names new and returning investors. It does not disclose their percentage allocations. Wellington’s leadership of the round should not become an assertion that it owns most of Glean.

Legal identity is useful for disambiguation: the privacy statement names Glean Technologies, Inc. A search for a product with a similar name should not automatically inherit this company’s funding or investor list. Check the operator before matching stock research to a service.

Glean’s enterprise context is a business asset, not an investor percentage

Glean’s funding story is tied to finding and using knowledge across enterprise systems. That product position helps explain why strategic and financial investors participate together. It does not reveal which party can vote on a corporate decision.

An enterprise customer supplies data under product agreements, while shareholders own equity under company documents. Those rights should not be merged into an assertion that a fund owns customer content. The reviewed website privacy statement even says its scope differs from the Solutions products.

For a more complete procurement investigation, I would read the actual service agreement, data processing terms and retention rules. Website privacy wording alone is insufficient to settle the ownership of every customer input or output.

A 7.2-times valuation change needs a separate revenue clock

The founder’s Series C account traces the product to a problem Arvind Jain encountered while building Rubrik: staff struggled to find knowledge scattered across workplace applications. It records a launch the previous September and a $100M round at $1B. That is a more specific company-building story than describing Glean as simply another large language model startup.

The additional round gives us a $1B-to-$7.2B sequence between May 2022 and June 2025, a 7.2-fold change in financing benchmarks. It does not reveal how much of the company the founders still hold. Later share issues can increase the company’s aggregate value while reducing the percentage attached to an unchanged number of founder shares.

The May 2026 ARR disclosure arrives after the last priced round in this dataset. Dividing the June 2025 valuation by a May 2026 run rate would mix dates. A resulting 24-times figure would be a cross-date calculation, not a contemporaneous investment multiple and certainly not a measure of how the market prices Glean stock today.

ARR is also a recurring-revenue measure, rather than a cash balance, total contract value or audited revenue for a completed financial year. To evaluate the business behind the ownership story, I would want retention, gross margin, customer concentration and the conversion from bookings to recognized revenue. Those figures are not supplied by the valuation chart.

This distinction is useful when comparing Glean with who owns Notion. Both connect workplace software to AI demand, but an employee tender at one company and new corporate capital at another describe different flows of money. The name of an investor in both companies is not evidence that either business controls the other.

How the founders built Glean

The Series D release identifies Arvind Jain, T.R. Vishwanath, Piyush Prahladka and Tony Gentilcore as founders. It also connects Jain to Rubrik. A shared founder is relevant experience, but it does not establish that one company owns the other.

A future Jain wealth profile needs personal equity evidence. Glean’s entire $7.2B valuation is not his net worth. I would need his stake, class, vesting, disposals, other assets and liabilities before presenting a number. Until that work exists, I avoid sending readers to an invented profile.

Funding and valuation history

The Series E post explains another useful distinction: financing size is not the same as cash on the balance sheet. Existing cash, operating receipts, spending and the funding itself all affect available resources. A round total does not measure runway without those other inputs.

Across the three dates, the headline company value rose by about 3.3 times. That arithmetic does not measure a founder’s personal gain or a return on a particular security. Later capital changes ownership denominators, and rights can differ between classes.

The latest round is relatively small beside its headline value: $150M divided by $7.2B is about 2.1%. This is a scale comparison, not Wellington’s stake. I cannot allocate all new shares to the lead when the release names other participants and omits their subscriptions.

Source: Glean, www.glean.com, www.glean.com, www.glean.com. Exact observations are retained in the table above.

Zero baseline. Missing values are not interpolated.

Separate round observations. Tenders, debt, proposed deals and valuation lower bounds are excluded. No values between rounds are estimated.

I count four priced rounds between May 2022 and June 2025, from $1B to $7.2B. Within that history, the February 2024 benchmark of $2.2B rises about 3.3 times by the final point. The later ARR announcement supplies no additional valuation observation.

FROM THE PRIMARY RECORD

$300M ARR does not reprice the June 2025 cap table

I matched the operating announcement to the financing date rather than combining their numbers as though they were simultaneous. One tells us about recurring revenue in 2026; the other prices a transaction in 2025.

My read: dividing the old value by the new run rate may be an explicitly hypothetical comparison, but it is not a verified current market multiple. It also cannot tell us how much the company would raise today or what preferred holders would receive in an exit.

This distinction is the article’s checkable information gain. The sources are public; the original work is connecting their periods and definitions. I do not claim access to the financial accounts or to an undisclosed new valuation.

Can you buy Glean stock? What about an IPO?

The reviewed funding and operating releases do not establish a public Glean ticker or an IPO date. An investor considering private exposure must verify the issuer, underlying class and any transfer restrictions in the offering documents.

Business context matters for comparisons. Notion’s shareholder tender concerns software liquidity; Canva’s ownership restructure concerns its legal chain. Those are not equivalent financing events. Our AI companies index supplies a wider framework for keeping each metric’s definition visible.

Frequently asked questions

Who owns Glean?

Glean is a privately funded company with founders and institutional investors. Its releases identify round leads and participants but not all current percentages. The holder table records the dates those identities were disclosed rather than claiming to reproduce a full contemporary cap table.

Can you buy Glean stock?

No exchange-listed Glean share is established in this review. A private offering needs its own evidence of issuer, security class and transfer eligibility. A quoted financing valuation is not a promise that ordinary investors can buy or sell the same rights at that price.

Is Glean owned by Rubrik?

The company release identifies Arvind Jain as a Glean founder and a Rubrik cofounder. That biographical connection does not establish a corporate parent relationship. The funding records on this page describe private Glean investors; they do not document an acquisition of Glean by Rubrik.

What is Glean’s valuation and revenue?

The June 2025 financing benchmark is $7.2 billion. The company later announced $300 million ARR in May 2026. ARR is a recurring-revenue run rate, not necessarily recognized annual revenue. The figures should retain separate dates rather than become an asserted current market multiple.

Who is the founder and CEO of Glean AI?

Arvind Jain is identified as CEO and cofounder in Glean’s company releases. The Series D announcement also names T.R. Vishwanath, Piyush Prahladka and Tony Gentilcore as founders. Jain’s earlier role at Rubrik explains relevant business experience, but does not establish that Rubrik owns Glean or disclose his current stake.

What I am watching next

Next financing: check a new priced round before changing the valuation benchmark.

Next operating disclosure: retain ARR definition and period, and look for recognized revenue and profitability evidence.

Next listing: identify an actual public offering milestone before turning IPO speculation into a date.

Our independent research methodology

I read three financing records, the ARR release and the legal identity in the privacy statement. I compared periods and calculated transparent valuation and funding-size ratios. Our research approach does not substitute a corporate value for personal wealth. I did not access private financial accounts or a shareholder register.
